10 SPECTACULAR THINGS TO DO IN NANTUCKET

Nantucket is a popular picturesque island off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts! It's the perfect spot for your next summer day trip or weekend getaway! Keep scrolling to find the top 10 things to do while vacationing in ACK!

Stroll the Town
As soon as you arrive from the ferry you'll be right in the middle of the village! Wander through the cobblestone streets to take in all the boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries. Plenty of sights to see from the historic architecture to the people watching. This is the hub of all the action!

Self-Guided Lighthouse Tour
Nantucket is home to three Lighthouses! Each with their own character and slice of the island. They're incredible sights to see and each so different!

  • Brant Light: The most frequently visited lighthouse of Tuck which can be seen from the Harbor. The lighthouse is the second oldest in America and the shortest in New England, for what it lacks in size it makes up for in charm!
  • Sankaty Light: This lighthouse is located in Sconset, the Bluff Walk leads you to this towering nautical red and white structure!
  • Great Point Light: This one is certainly a trek and requires a bit of planning, like four wheel drive and a permit, but it's certainly worth the adventure! The lighthouse stands majestically and is classic. You wont be disappointed in your journey!

Relax on the Beach
Nantucket is lined with beaches, a few of my favorite are Cisco, Sconset and Jetties! Jetties is convenient to downtown and has an adorable sea side restaurant. Sconset is pristine, it goes on for over a mile so its a perfect place to sprawl out, it's lined by dunes that give it a real Cape feel, you might even see a seal! Cisco is remote enough that there won't be large crowds, if you enjoy watching the waves crash and being surrounded by nothing but nature this is your spot!

Sconset Bluff Walk
My hands down favorite part of Nantucket! This narrow pathway leads you behind beautiful post card perfect cottages with a sea view! The cottages are dressed with gorgeous flowers for the perfect amount of coastal charm! This trail connects you to Sankaty Light-the cherry on top!

Get a set of Wheels
If your idea of a vacation includes exploring then you'll want some sort of ride! We wanted to see the island from East to West and everything in between, so we went with a fun moped to cover more ground! We rented from Nantucket Bike Shop which is right next to the ferry port. There are plenty of other transportation options too. If you're in the mood for a leisurely outing, grab a bicycle for the many bike baths or a Jeep to fit in like an islander! They will have you riding in style!

Stroll the Harbor
If you enjoy checking out yachts and ocean views then a walk on the docks are a must! Loved just strolling while enjoying some ice cream! As we walked along, we chose which one would be ours (some day)! It's fun reading their unique names and where their voyage originated from!

Eat ice cream
Everywhere I looked people were eating ice cream! Walking down the square and oh my gosh the waffle cone scent was pouring onto the sidewalk slapping you right in the nose! I was hooked! My waffle cone was so fresh, guys, it was still warm! Jack and Charlies is an adorable ice cream shop right in the village(goals)! I ordered the mint chocolate chip and it was delicious, but the real MVP was that waffle cone!

Visit Cisco Brewery
By now I'm sure you've heard of this place! It is a Nantucket staple and for good reason! It's more than a brewery, you can slurp oysters from the raw bar while your friends are dancing to the local band! Makes for an easy family activity as dogs and kids are welcome too! Grab a bite, listen to music, slurp an oyster!

Shopping
Shop til you drop or until the money runs out! This a nautical prepsters paradise. From the boutique shops to the art galleries there is no shortage of items to purchase or at the very least window shop. I'm always inspired and blown away by the talent of the local artists! Take a little bit of the island back home with you!

Wander
We had no itinerary and it was the best! We let the roads lead us which brought us to some pretty spectacular sights. We were never without a view, from the stunning homes to the ocean backdrop! Leave the gps behind and just go! Explore! Wander!

I can't wait to hear about your island adventure! After your trip, be sure to tell me about your favorite spots!
